The RITZ Ybor presents ZZ Ward at The RITZ Ybor on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 as part of the 2013 Royal Room Live Concert Series.
ZZ Ward (born Zsuszsanna Eva Ward in Pennsylvania) is an American singer, musician and songwriter who has appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and the CONAN show. She recently released her debut album Till the Casket Drops featuring the hit single "Put The Gun Down."
The RITZ Ybor’s 2013 Royal Room Live Concert Series takes place in the venue’s front room known as the Royal Room. Since 1982, Tropical Heatwave has been a rite of spring for fans of eclectic music. Tropical Heatwave now spreads all over Ybor City, presenting an incredible lineup of diverse entertainment with more than 60 bands on multiple stages. The event has not only become one that brings all of Ybor City alive with great music and parties, it has also become a near perfect example of the public radio-local community/business partnership that is now emulated in other markets throughout the country. MIGHTY MONGO HEADLINE THE RITZ YBOR’S MARCH 2013 ROYAL ROOM LIVE CONCERT SERIES
Tampa, FL - The RITZ Ybor presents Mighty Mongo with This Day’s Age, True Angries and Lions After Dark live at The RITZ Ybor on Friday, March 29, 2013 as part of the 2013 Royal Room Live Concert Series. Mighty Mongo is a four-piece party-rock punk band from St. Petersburg, Florida comprised of members Alex Card, Anthony Isoldi, Lindsay Vitola and Scotty Chmura. Since their inception in October 2009, the band has played over 800 shows and have been featured on the 2012 Vans Warped Tour where they will be rejoining the roster on the 2013 Vans Warped Tour from June 15 to July 12, 2013. Mighty Mongo was crowned as the winner of The RITZ Ybor’s very first Ultimate Bands Series in 2010.

Dear patrons of the Bad Religion concert at The RITZ Ybor,
The RITZ Ybor deeply regrets any inconvenience that was caused at the Bad Religion concert on Saturday, March 16, 2013. Due to circumstances beyond our control, the Fire Marshall expressed a capacity concern that evening. This concern prevented The RITZ Ybor from allowing anyone inside the venue as well as allowing any patron into the Theater Ballroom until all measures were reviewed. During that time period, our staff shared our door clicker counts, wristband counts, number of collected tickets and our operation procedures with the Fire Marshall before our venue could receive clearance to let patrons back inside the Theater Ballroom and even inside the venue.
When our procedures checked out and the Fire Marshall finally granted clearance for patrons to enter the venue and re-enter the Theater Ballroom, it was unfortunately near the end of Bad Religion’s set leading many concertgoers to rightfully become upset. The RITZ Ybor was not in any type of capacity violation. The show was not oversold. The venue completely followed all rules and regulations. The RITZ Ybor was in complete compliance, and handled the sudden situation as best as we could.
Last Saturday’s Bad Religion concert at The RITZ Ybor was not sold out and not at capacity when the Fire Marshall stopped by.
The RITZ Ybor team has met to fully discuss the timeline and details of what happened last Saturday night. We have received numerous e-mails and phone calls, and felt it necessary to issue a formal response and public apology.
To prevent a situation like this from arising in the future, The RITZ Ybor team has set-up a meeting this week with the Fire Marshall to discuss those preventative measures. The safety of our patrons and employees is of the utmost concern for everyone at The RITZ Ybor, and our staff is regularly trained to deal with any types of safety issues.
On behalf of The RITZ Ybor owners, corporate company, management and staff, we are deeply sorry for the inconvenience experienced last Saturday night at our venue. We sincerely appreciate your support as patrons, and thank you for taking the time to read this.

Churchill singer/guitarist Tim Bruns and mandolin player Mike Morter have been making folk-infused rock songs with delicate bluegrass flair together since the first day they met. In 2009, Bruns and Morter added bassist Tyler Rima, drummer Joe Richmond, and keyboardist/singer Bethany Kelly to their lineup, a move that vastly expanded their sound and birthed the high-energy alt-country/pop-rock hybrid that is Churchill.
As with all of Churchill’s releases so far, Change EP is entirely self-produced and self-recorded by the band to truly capture the raw, frenetic energy of their live show. Their upcoming debut for A&M/Octone, offers up a selection of songs that flaunt their supreme skills in blending hook-laced pop with soulfully charged, lushly textured rock. From the freewheeling country swing of “Ark in a Flood” (a sprawling anthem marked by soaring, sunny harmonies) to the Motown strut of “Change” (a gorgeously pained love song on which Kelly’s tough but tender vocals take the lead), Change EP enlists Churchill as an outfit that’s both classic in sensibility and undeniably fresh in sound.
Always honored to be on stage, Churchill's live experience is a major part of how they effectively leave their audience feeling hopeful and ready to change the world.
